		Availability of Power for SSI Sector

For the purpose of power connection, the DIC recommends the applications for power connection on priority basis to the concerned Divisional Engineers, WBSEB. The said Engineers in turn examine such cases on merit basis of prepare priority lists. These list are then sent to the concerned Station Superintendents for connection. To monitor such cases, Zilla Parishad conducts meeting every month where all Divisional Engineers remain present including the DIC representative. Any problem pertaining to these connections are discussed in the meeting and way outs are evolved for early connection. The Superintending Engineers of the District are equally held responsible for monitoring the activity every quarter.

		Marketing Support for SSI Units

DIC extends marketing support to SSI units in marketing their various products. This support is basically indirect in nature . DIC gets the SSI units registered with National Small Scale Industries Corporation, whereupon SSI units can participate in the store purchase programme of the Central Government without any earnest money deposit. Here the SSI units can avail itself of the 15% price preference vis-ŕ-vis the large scale Industrial undertakings. This scheme is called 'Single Point Registration'.

For the purpose of purchase programme of State Government Departments, SSI units can participate in the same where, on being certified by the DIC to this extent, it can enjoy the same exemption from earnest money deposit, 15% price preference vis-ŕ-vis Large Scale Units and can get tender paper free of cost.

DIC arranges participation of SSI units in various trade fairs, Exhibition etc. Every year, the Directorate of C&SSI, W.B., participates in the India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and India Industrial Trade Fair at Kolkata. Here DIC helps SSI units in their participations in those fairs for display and sales. Besides, in any other fair DIC also helps the participations of SSI units with a view of promoting the sales/publicity of the registered SSI units.

For the purpose of exports too, DIC extends suitable assistance to the export oriented units by way of sponsoring the names of SSI units to different Export Promotion Council / Commodity Boards both for their membership as well as for availing themselves with the export enquiries. Here the State Export Promotion Society also caters services of dissemination of information about various export enquiries which SSI units can avail.

Here, being agriculturally developed area, Nadia is rich with paddy, jute, mango, papaya, lichi, tomato, ginger, garlic and other vegetables. Another important resource is human skill where skilled artisans are engaged in various handicrafts like clay dolls and modeling , brass and bell metal, needle work, conch-shell carving, wood carving terracotta, cane & bamboo crafts.
